Police responded at about 1:15 a.m. Tuesday to a report of shots fired near the intersection of Santos Street and Brookdale Avenue.

An officer located the victim, who said he had been driving with his kids in the car when he was flagged down by another man. He did not stop, and moments later he heard a gunshot, police said.

After driving out of the area, the man pulled over and checked his car, which had a bullet hole, according to police.

No arrests have been made in the case and no suspect information was immediately available.
