sfpd_cityhall.jpg3:40 PM: A package initially considered suspicious at a federal immigration court building in San Francisco’s Financial District this afternoon has been determined to be harmless, a police spokesman said.

A suspicious package was reported at about 12:30 p.m. inside the building at 120 Montgomery St., police Officer Carlos Manfredi said. The building houses the U.S. Department of Justice’s Immigration Court.

The eighth, ninth and 10th floors of the building were evacuated and people in the rest of the building were ordered to shelter in place while the Police Department’s bomb squad inspected the package, Manfredi said.

The bomb squad eventually determined the case had no merit and gave the all-clear, Manfredi said shortly after 3 p.m.
