shooting_nighttime.jpgA man was shot in his upper body in San Francisco’s Tenderloin neighborhood this morning, San Francisco police said.

A call about the shooting came in this morning at 3:09 a.m. from a hotel in the 200 block of Ninth Street, which is near Howard, in the South of Market neighborhood. Officers arrived at the hotel and found a man in his 20s suffering from a gunshot wound to his upper body, police said.

The man was taken by ambulance to the hospital with an injury not considered life-threatening, police said.

Police said the shooting appears to have occurred near Turk and Jones streets. He was then picked up by friends–possibly in a taxi–who brought him to the hotel on Ninth Street and then called 911.

Phillips Hotel is listed in the 200 block of Ninth Street.
