A board member of the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency passed away Friday night, an agency spokesman said.
Cameron Beach, who had been a member of the SFMTA board of directors since 2007, passed away on Friday due to natural causes, according to the San Francisco medical examiner’s office.
The medical examiner would not release more information about Beach’s cause of death, but SFMTA spokesman Paul Rose said Beach’s passing was unexpected. According to the Market Street Railway blog, Beach “had just returned from a business trip to southern California when he collapsed. Paramedics, who arrived within a few minutes, were unable to revive him.”
“We are deeply saddened by the loss of a close friend and colleague, who had an unparalleled passion for Muni,” board Chairman Tom Nolan in a statement.
Beach, 62, of San Francisco, joined the board in March of 2007, and had a career in transportation for 44 years, according to SFMTA.
Mayor Ed Lee released a statement that said he was deeply saddened by Beach’s passing.
Lee said, “His family and friends are in our thoughts and prayers today as we mourn the loss of a true San Franciscan.”
