pg&e_blackout(2).jpg1:48 PM: Power was restored this afternoon to more than 1,500 PG&E customers who were in the dark following an outage earlier today, a utility spokeswoman said.

The outage was reported at about 11:20 a.m. near San Francisco’s Parkmerced neighborhood, PG&E spokeswoman Fiona Chan said.

An underground equipment failure caused the outage, and repairs were delayed because rainwater was filling up manholes in the area, Chan said.

Power was restored to all customers as of 1:10 p.m., she said.

About 700 PG&E customers remain without power this afternoon due to two separate outages in the North Bay and East Bay.

In San Rafael, a tree fell onto power lines at about 8:50 a.m., knocking out power to about 250 customers in the northeast part of the city.

Power is expected to be restored to those customers by about 10 p.m., according to PG&E.

In Orinda, a car ran into a power pole, knocking out power to about 450 customers.

Those customers are expected to have power restored by about 6 p.m., utility officials said.
