Closed.jpgNorthbound state Highway 1 in San Francisco will be closed tonight and into Saturday morning as part of the ongoing project to rebuild Doyle Drive, transit officials said.

Starting at 9:30 p.m., the highway will be closed as crews begin wrapping up work on the Ruckman Bridge replacement north of the MacArthur Tunnel. The closure will begin at Lake Street.

The highway is expected to be closed until 9 a.m. Saturday, according to transit officials.

Motorists are asked to take a detour from Highway 1 to Lombard Street and U.S. Highway 101.

The closure is weather dependent and could be delayed until Saturday night if rain falls.
Doyle Drive, a seismically unsafe portion of Highway 101 in the Presidio on the northern edge of San Francisco, is being replaced with what is called the Presidio Parkway.

The new roadway is expected to open in 2015.
