sfpd_arrestcuffs.jpgA man was arrested Tuesday morning after stealing a motorized scooter from outside a home in San Francisco’s Noe Valley neighborhood, police said.

The theft was reported at 10:32 a.m. Tuesday at a home in the 1600 block of Castro Street.

The victim said he had locked and chained his scooter to a pole in front of his home but returned to find the scooter missing, according to police.

A witness who was working nearby said he saw a man cut the chain and take the vehicle.

He agreed to drive the victim around to search for the suspect, who they soon saw pushing the scooter into a home a few blocks away, police said.

Officers responded and located the suspect and scooter, as well as bolt cutters and a cut lock and chain.

The suspect, whose name was not immediately available, admitted to taking the moped and was booked into jail for the theft, according to police.
