earthquake.jpgTwo small earthquakes struck the area near San Francisco this evening within a few minutes on one another Sunday evening.

According to the USGS, the first quake struck an area north-northeast of San Leandro, 15 miles from San Francisco’s City Hall, at 8:09 PM. It had a magnitude of 3.5, and a depth of 5.6 miles.

The second, reports the USGS’s computers in what at publication time was a preliminary report, had a barely-perceptible magnitude of 2.3, and struck 3 miles west of the SF Zoo at 8:11, the USGS says. It had a depth of 5.5 miles.

Did you feel either? If so (or even if you didn’t) let the USGS know on their “Did you feel it?” map.
