sfpd_squad.jpgA woman was robbed and kicked in the head in San Francisco’s Ingleside Heights neighborhood on Wednesday evening, police said.

The robbery was reported at about 7:20 p.m. Wednesday in the 200 block of Ramsell Street.

The 23-year-old victim said she had gotten off a San Francisco Municipal Railway M-Ocean View light-rail vehicle at Randolph and Arch streets and was walking home when she heard footsteps behind her, according to police.

A man then covered the woman’s mouth and told her she was being robbed. He tried to pull her purse away from her, which caused its contents to fall to the ground, police said.

The woman bit the suspect’s hand to defend herself but fell to the ground, and the suspect kicked her in the head, according to police.

The suspect fled with the victim’s iPod and cellphone and has not been found as of today.

He is described as a black man between 20 and 25 years old who is 6 feet 1 inches tall, weighs about 160 pounds, has brown hair and brown eyes, had facial hair and was wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt, dark pants and black shoes, police said.

The victim was treated at the scene by medical personnel for minor injuries but refused transport to a hospital.

Anyone with information about the robbery is encouraged to call the Police Department’s anonymous tip line at (415) 575-4444 or send a tip by text message to TIP411.
