shooting_nighttime.jpgA man who refused to hand over his gold necklace to a robber was shot by the suspect in San Francisco’s Excelsior District on Monday evening, police said.

The victim had been standing on the corner of Persia Avenue and London Street at about 5:10 p.m. when he was approached by a Hispanic male in his early 20s.

The suspect tried to grab the victim’s necklace, but the victim resisted, police said. The suspect shot the victim once with a revolver before fleeing in a waiting vehicle.

Police said the injured victim was transported to San Francisco General Hospital and was expected to survive.

No arrests have been made.
