Dear Editor:
I am saddened and appalled to listen to the plans for the 75th anniversary celebration of the Golden Gate Bridge.
While this iconic land mark may deserve a public event, there is still an undeniable need for a suicide barrier.
In the wake of the death of Danville teen Allison Bayliss, we are reminded of the lives that are lost from the structure.
While a plan for a barrier has reached the stage of approval, there is no money to fund such a project.
The 75th anniversary event could truly be memorable if there was money from private donors to cover the cost of a barrier. If there is money to fund the event, why not reach out to corporations and philanthropists across thecountry and secure funding for this overdue barrier?
