police-light-bar1.jpg10:59 AM (Eve Batey): SFPD spokesperson Officer Albie Esparza says that “The incident at Embarcadero 2 and Embarcadero 3 turned out to be no merit.”

“The package was a backpack which contained misc debris items inside, none of which were deemed a threat. The all clear was given at approx. 10:40am.”

10:24 AM: A suspicious package has prompted the closure of a street in San Francisco’s Financial District this morning, a police spokesman said.

The package was reported at 8:46 a.m. on a skyway bridge that connects the Two Embarcadero Center and Three Embarcadero Center buildings, police Officer Albie Esparza said.

Davis Street, which runs below the bridge, had been shut down as of 9:50 a.m. while the Police Department’s bomb squad investigates the package, Esparza said.

No other information about the incident was immediately available.
