sfpd_squad.jpgA taxi driver was slashed in the hand while being robbed in San Francisco’s Bayview District early Saturday morning, police said.

The robbery occurred at about 2 a.m. while the cab was traveling along Evans Street.

The passenger told the 54-year-old cabbie to pull over, then held a knife to his throat and demanded money, according to police.

The victim handed over his cash, and suffered a cut to his hand while trying to shield his throat from the knife, police said. He was taken to San Francisco General Hospital to be treated for the injury, which is not considered life-threatening.

The suspect got out of the cab and ran away. He had not been found as of this morning, according to police.

Anyone with information about the robbery is encouraged to call the Police Department’s anonymous tip line at (415) 575-4444 or send a tip by text message to TIP411.
