sfpd_squad.jpgA man was hit in the head with a brick in what is believed to be a drug-related attack in San Francisco’s South of Market neighborhood on Monday night, police said.

The assault was reported at about 8 p.m. near the intersection of Second and Clementina streets.

The 45-year-old victim apparently owed the suspect money for drugs, and when he failed to give him the money, the suspect struck the victim in the head with a brick, according to police.

The victim was taken to San Francisco General Hospital to be treated for his injuries, which are not considered life-threatening, police said.

The suspect fled and had not been found as of this morning. A detailed description of the man was not immediately available.

Anyone with information about the attack is encouraged to call the Police Department’s anonymous tip line at (415) 575-4444 or send a tip by text message to TIP411.
