pg&e_blackout(2).jpg6:26 AM: About 990 South Bay PG&E customers are still without power due to several outages triggered by recent stormy weather, PG&E spokeswoman Fiona Chan said.

An outage in San Jose was reported at around 4:15 p.m. Chan said at 4:30 p.m. that PG&E crews were at the site investigating the cause and expect to restore service to the 600 affected customers by early this evening.

Hundreds of other South Bay customers are still without service due to earlier outages.
The overall number outages has been dropping across the Bay Area throughout the day while crews responded to restore power to thousands of affected customers, Chan said.

Along the Peninsula, about 2,800 customers were without power at 8:45 a.m. Eight hours later, that number was reduced to 50, Chan said.

The East Bay has 50 customers without service, down from 190, and San Francisco residents are fully online, although 400 customers were left powerless this morning.

In the North Bay, 100 customers remain without power, down from 350 at almost five hours ago, Chan said.

PG&E officials are urging customers to use caution as the stormy weather persists through this weekend.

If an outage occurs, customers should use battery-operated flashlights in lieu of candles, Chan said, and officials recommend unplugging or powering off electric appliances to avoid overloading circuits when power returns.

Downed power lines should be treated as “live” or energized, and customers should call 911 and notify PG&E, Chan said.
