gavel.jpgMore details have emerged after reports of a Christmas Eve holiday attack at SFO that left one woman under mental health observation.

The woman, whom the Ex identifies as Former Los Angeles prosecutor Angela Kay West, spent her Christmas Eve in custody after allegedly becoming enraged, grabbing a dustpan from a custodian’s cart, and going after her fellow customers on the Level 3 Food Court at SFO.

West, who is reportedly a graduate of Harvard Law School, and was admitted to the California State Bar over 20 years ago, allegedly swung the dustpan at customers and various objects including those at a Peet’s Coffee kiosk, even striking a chair held by another person over ten times, police say.

As police arrived on the scene, Kay reportedly calmed a bit but soon grabbed a bottle and threatened officers with it. She was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon and battery on a peace officer, then placed in a mental health facility.

The Ex says West’s case is set for a jury trial on January 25, and has decided, says the Chron, to represent herself, after successfully successfully arguing for a reduction in bail from $25,000 to $10,000.

And perhaps her chances to garner a jury’s sympathy are good: as SFist said of the case, “(l)ook, we get it: Christmas and SFO and the lines and the kids and the outrageous Peet’s kiosk prices make us go a little nuts as well.”
