shooting_nighttime.jpgA shooting in San Francisco’s Fillmore District tonight has left one teenage boy injured and police searching for suspects, a police spokesman said.

Officers responded to the corner of Fillmore and O’Farrell streets on a call of a shooting victim at about 10:15 p.m., police Officer Albie Esparza said.

Police found one victim–a teenage black male–with a gunshot wound to his lower extremities, Esparza said. The victim had apparently been involved in a verbal argument with four or five other black teenage males when one of the teenagers pulled a gun and shot the victim.

All suspects fled the scene and the victim was transported to a local hospital with injuries that are not believed to be life threatening, Esparza said.

Police do not yet have any of the suspects in custody and did not have detailed descriptions of their appearances. The incident is under investigation, and Esparza said police did not yet determine if the shooting was gang related.

Anyone with information about the incident is urged to contact police anonymously by calling (415) 575-4444 or by texting a tip to TIP411.
