A Texas man who left his car at San Francisco International Airport for nearly two-and-a-half months earlier this year and then bounced a $2,200 check to pay for parking pleaded guilty to a felony in court last week, according to the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office.
John Charles Mackay, 47, parked at SFO on Feb. 3 and returned from South Africa on April 13, the sheriff’s office said.
However, when Mackay wrote a $2,277 check in his company’s name to pay for 69 days of parking charges, it was discovered the check was written against a closed account and returned for insufficient funds, the sheriff’s office said.
Mackay described himself as self-employed.
On Friday, Mackay pleaded guilty in San Mateo County Superior Court to a felony count of delivering a fraudulent check, according to the sheriff’s office.
He was placed on three years of probation and ordered to pay restitution.
