Olivier Matera, of San Francisco, died Saturday, medical examiner’s office administrator Stephen Gelman said. An official cause and manner of death have not yet been determined, he said.

According to police, the boy became separated from his mother, nanny and twin sister inside the hotel at about 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, after the family came inside to escape the rain and were sightseeing and taking pictures in the lobby.

Minutes later, the boy was found in an upper-floor fountain, police said. He was not breathing and had to be revived with CPR.

Police spokesman Officer Albie Esparza said no criminal charges have been filed in the case.

“It’s just an unfortunate tragedy,” Esparza said.
