police-light-bar1.jpgA fatal accident involving a pedestrian and two vehicles on southbound U.S. Highway 101 in Burlingame closed all but one lane of traffic for more than an hour this morning, the California Highway Patrol said.

Reports of a person lying on the ground in the fast lane of Highway 101 just north of Broadway came in to the CHP communications center at about 1:25 a.m., Officer Peter Van Eckhardt said.

Initial reports indicated that a black BMW and a pickup truck were somehow involved, although Van Eckhardt said it was still unclear how the pedestrian came to be on the roadway.

A Sig-alert was issued about ten minutes later, when three lanes of traffic remained open, although later only a single lane carried traffic past the crash scene.

All lanes had been reopened as of 2:50 a.m.
