A second victim has died as a result of injuries sustained in an early morning double fatal car crash in the southwest corner of San Francisco, and of the five people who were traveling in the vehicle two others were injured, a police spokesman said.
At about 12:45 a.m., the Suzuki sedan was traveling westbound on Ocean Avenue and was approaching Junipero Serra Boulevard when the crash occurred, police Sgt. Michael Andraychak said.
Two men were thrown from the sedan–one victim was pronounced dead on the scene, and another victim was transported to San Francisco General Hospital, but eventually succumbed to his injuries, Andraychak said.
Two other people who had been traveling in the Suzuki sustained injuries that were not believed to be life threatening, he said, and the fifth person walked away from the crash uninjured.
It was not clear if the driver was injured in the crash.
According to Andraychak, investigators have not yet determined if alcohol played a role in the crash, but the investigation is ongoing.
Information about the victims’ identities was not yet available, but will be released by the San Francisco medical examiner’s office upon notification of the victims’ next of kin.
