San Francisco Municipal Railway riders have only a couple of days left to make the switch from the paper “A” Fast Pass to the electronic Clipper card version, according to the Metropolitan Transportation Commission.
Beginning Monday, that Fast Pass will only be available on Clipper.
The change will impact commuters who use the “A” Fast Pass, which can be used on all Muni vehicles and BART rides within San Francisco.
Riders are already getting on board with the changes–the MTC saw a spike in electronic FastPass purchases in the past week. More than 980 “A” passes were electronically loaded onto Clipper cards on Wednesday, according to the MTC.
Use of the paper “M” Fast Pass, which can only be used on Muni, will be eliminated next April.
Muni and the MTC operate the Clipper system in partnership with various other Bay Area transit agencies, including BART, Alameda-Contra Costa Transit, Caltrain, and Golden Gate Transit.
Clipper cards are available at www.clippercard.com, by phone at (877) 878-8883, in ticket machines at Muni Metro stations, and at more than 200 retail locations, including Walgreens.
Caltrain will phase out its paper monthly passes in early 2011.
