10/11 12:34 PM: San Francisco police have found an elderly man with Alzheimer’s disease who went missing on Thursday morning, police Officer Albie Esparza said today.
Nile Baker, 83, was found later Thursday and was returned to Hayes Valley Care, the assisted living home in the 600 block of Laguna Street where he lives, Esparza said.
Baker was seen walking out of the center on Thursday morning. Concern was raised when he did not immediately return because he does not know his address or how to get back to his home due to his dementia, police said.
Information about where Baker was located or his condition was not immediately available.
10/21 9:03 PM: San Francisco police are asking for the public’s help in locating an 83-year-old man suffering from Alzheimer’s disease who went missing from him home this morning.
Nile Baker was seen walking out of his home in the 600 block of Laguna Street at 10:30 a.m. but does not know how to get back, police said.
He is a white man with blue eyes and gray hair, and he was last seen wearing a black T-shirt, blue jeans and eyeglasses. He is 6 feet 3 inches tall and weighs 215 pounds.
Baker likes to visit areas with boats and frequents Ocean Beach, police said. He knows his name but does not know his address, and he might be disoriented or confused.
Anyone who finds him is asked to contact Karen Yumul at the Hayes Valley Care home at (415) 252-1128. Police also ask for anyone with information about Baker to call the missing person’s unit at (415) 558-5508 or (415) 553-1071.
