“On Saturday and Sunday” says a release from the SFMTA “from 5 a.m. to 8 p.m. a film shoot in the South of Market neighborhood near Highway 280 will require the closure of the 6th Street exit from Highway 280 northbound. Northbound 280 traffic will be detoured to the King Street off ramp, north on 3rd Street and west on Brannan Street.”

What’s the cause of this closure? A call to “Logan Productions,” the company holding the permit for the closure, was nonproductive — the person we spoke to was reluctant to give us any details at the time of our call, suggesting we “call back in a couple hours.”

The SF Film Commission came through for us, however — the off-ramp-closing production is a car commercial, a spokesperson said, though she could not divulge the brand name.

“People shoot a lot of car commercials here, why is that?” I asked her. “Because it’s so beautiful!” she said. Aw!

According to Logan Productions, traffic will be detoured to the King Street offramp, sending drivers left onto 3rd street and left again onto Brannan.
