Prosecutors today charged two men with murder for fatally shooting a San Francisco man Tuesday night during a home invasion robbery in the city’s Bayview District.
Eric Jordan, 38, and Gary Jones, 18, were arrested following the shooting of 57-year-old Dennis Dixon inside Dixon’s home in the 2000 block of Palou Avenue.
Police said the suspects came to Dixon’s door and, following a verbal altercation, Dixon was shot.
A younger male relative of Dixon was pistol-whipped during the encounter.
Jordan, whose city of residence is not yet known, and Jones, of Richmond, are expected to be arraigned Friday morning on charges of murder, robbery and burglary, according to prosecutors.
Jordan is additionally charged with being a convicted felon in possession of a gun, and Jones is charged with assault with a firearm for the alleged pistol-whipping, prosecutors said.
Police have credited a quick response by officers in the area with apprehending Jordan and Jones, who were detained leaving the home after a neighbor called 911, police said. Two handguns were also recovered.
Prosecutors have not said who is the suspected shooter, but under California’s felony-murder rule, both can be charged with murder for a killing that occurred during a robbery.
Jones was allegedly found with some of Dixon’s possessions after his arrest.
