Blood Centers of the Pacific issued a statement today saying there has been “an overwhelming response” from people wanting to give blood for those injured by the San Bruno fire, but asked donors to hold off until next week or later.

The center said that steady supplies of blood are being provided to local hospitals.

“It is essential that the blood currently being used be replenished in the coming weeks,” the center said.

Donation centers and blood drives are experiencing long wait times, and are asking donors to postpone blood donations until next week or the week after.
