Happy Thursday from the Richmond!

Our quiet neighborhood experienced a little Beatle-mania last weekend when Sir Paul was in town for his AT&T Park concert. One of his tour crew stopped in Green Apple Books and told a staffer, “Paul loves your store – he said I had to come by and check it out.” Then Sir Paul himself was spotted biking through Golden Gate Park on Saturday before the show. Watch “Hey Jude” and “Live and Let Die” from the concert

Speaking of the Green Apple… They’re hosting author James Kaelan as he cycles through town on his 1,900 mile bike tour to promote his new book “We’re Getting On”, a collection of short stories and novellas about technology and its impact on our lives. His tour is carbon-free and so is the book – the cover is made of seed paper.

How long have you lived where you are? 5 years? 20 years? Try 100 years for Ellen Murphy, who just turned 100 this month and has spent every year of her life living in the Richmond District. Maybe the fog is the secret to her longevity?

One of our favorite recreation areas will be getting some new digs thanks to a $5 million grant from the Goldman Fund. Land’s End improvements are coming our way in the form of a new visitor center, parking lot upgrades and other ongoing maintenance.

Have a great weekend everyone!
