Hi from the Richmond,

Despite our gorgeous coastline and picturesque views from the Cliff House, we are sometimes reminded that Mother Nature still rules the roost. A couple perished in a sailing accident off Ocean Beach last weekend, and more has come out about their love for sailing and the mysterious fate of their boat.

In this week’s “Whoops!”, Spin magazine accidentally revealed the top headliners for the upcoming Outside Lands Music Festival in Golden Gate Park. Organizers planned the big reveal for June 1 but their own ad they placed in the mag beat them to the own punch. Ranger Dave, the festival’s twitter mascot, was oddly quiet on the issue. Find out who’s headlining (hint: it will feel like sex on fire)

For all the movie buffs out there… Our local movie houses like the Balboa, 4-Star, Castro and many more are featured in a new book, Left in the Dark: Portraits of San Francisco Movie Theatres. The book chronicles the history and cultural impact of the city’s independent movie houses through fine art photos and personal essays.

If you’re in town this Sunday and want to observe Memorial Day beyond just firing up the grill, head to Land’s End for the annual USS San Francisco Memorial Day event. This year’s event will honor the late Rear Admiral Daniel Callaghan, a native San Franciscan who was killed by an enemy shell while in command on the bridge of the USS San Francisco during World War II.

Have a great weekend everyone!
