For all you bike to work types, tonight’s Nightlife at the Academy of Sciences was designed especially for you. Along with the usual coolness that comes with partying among reptiles, fish and alligators, “Rock the Bike” will feature plenty of sustainable goodness including bike-powered blenders at the bar, a biker bar where you can cycle to power the entertainment, plus a performance from Fossil Fool.

The mother of all recycling events, Gigantic 3, is coming to Ocean Beach this Saturday. Here’s your chance to finally get rid of that old refrigerator, electronics, yard waste, motor oil – almost anything. After enjoying such a lovely free service, why not give back by helping with a community cleanup that same day? The Richmond will love you for it.

Congrats goes out to one of my favorite Richmond District businesses, Paul’s Hat Works. They were awarded with a grant from the Convention & Visitor’s Bureau. If you saw Paul’s, you would understand why it might attract out-of-towners. Stop by for a visit and you’ll simultaneously go back in time while you marvel at the four young women who are dedicated to bringing handmade men’s hats back into fashion.

A final shout out goes to the Richmond Library, who will be celebrating the one year anniversary of their re-opening this Saturday. Stop by to celebrate and catch a traditional Lion Dance, music performances, and lots of fun for the kids.

Have a great weekend everyone!
