Today the SFPD announced a third locally-focused crime mapping site, CrimeMapping.com. According to the press release they sent, folks can query and “map calls for police services to incidents near an address.” They say you can also sign up for email reports of crime in a specific area.
CrimeMapping follows CrimeReports and EveryBlock into the market, and the SFPD notes that
all three sites allow the public to access San Francisco Police Department Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) crime information for a particular address based on a radius the user selects. Each site has its own manner of presentation, but supplies essentially the same information
We’ve just started poking around CrimeMapping today, and it does seem pretty nifty (the tiny hamburgler mask and ski mask icons are tops). What do you guys think? Do y’all use services like these, and, if so, for what?
