Yes, the Bay Bridge is back in service, something that is probably thrilling to many of you. But, no sooner had CHP started pace-caring folks onto the span than someone asked “does that mean BART’s going to fuck us tonight?” Of course, we asked for elaboration, and realized that the real question was that “with the Bay Bridge back on track, does that mean BART will go back to it’s regular service for the evening commute, even though a shitload of folks rode it here this morning and presumably will need to take it home?”
The answer: no, BART will not be fucking you, (at least not in the way you’re asking about) — BART says that they
will continue to run longer trains both throughout the day and during the evening commute to carry home the large number of additional riders who chose to use BART this morning while the Bay Bridge was closed.
“We carried 71,300 people across the bay this morning and all of them still have to get home,” BART’s Assistant General Manager of Operations Paul Oversier said. “Most people have no way to get back home, which is why we are running longer trains now through the end of this evening’s commute.”
We don’t need your pity, Paul! We could totally just steal a car or something.
