Just because the BART strike hasn’t happened doesn’t mean there’s nothing to write about it. Here’s what folks are saying about the BART strike that wasn’t:
Chron: Public outrage weakened BART strike threat mining the same “outrage” vein as last week. Like we noted then, is it smart to use Gate commenters as evidence of public opinion? Because, again as we noted last week, many Gate commenters say the Chron sucks.
CBS5: BART Union To Vote On Strike Averting Deal “Traffic flowed smoothly across the Bay Area during Monday’s commute.” WELL THANK GOD.
Streetsblog: Specter of a BART Strike Raises Important Questions for Bay Area Streetsblog gets out the ouija board? Sadly, no. “One thing that wasn’t covered, but which was important to BART, was the concern that a strike would compel many people away from the system to their cars or other means of transport, and the fear those riders might not have readily come back.” Streetsblog, YOU covered it! Don’t give everyone else ideas!
SJ Merc: Proposed new BART contract shows concessions on both sides This is a pretty interesting breakdown of the differences between the contract the other two BART unions accepted and the one the ATU will be voting on. You kind of have to wonder, as you read it, if the other two wish they’d held out. Oh, well.
SFist: Proof the Public Averted BART Strike God I have always hated spiral-bound notebooks.
Chron (Editorial): Keep BART rolling “The terms (of the contract) remain under wraps.” Yeah, unless you read the Merc.
