Previously: Dog Stabbed At Fort Funston Released From Emergency Pet Hospital
Federal authorities anticipate an arrest this week in connection with a stabbing attack on a dog Thursday at a San Francisco park, a U.S. Park Police spokesman said today.
A woman was walking her dog at Fort Funston at about 2:30 p.m. Thursday when a man with a pit bull stabbed her dog four times, Park Police spokesman George Durgerian said.
A 33-year-old San Francisco man believed responsible for the stabbing has been identified, but not yet arrested, Durgerian said.
“He’s been positively identified and charges and an arrest are pending,” Durgerian said this morning. “We foresee that happening this week.”
The man’s name has not yet been released.
The attack happened near the Sunset Trail. The two dogs reportedly assumed aggressive stances toward each other, and when the woman asked if the man’s pit bull was neutered, he allegedly began stabbing her dog. The man then fled.
Her dog, “Lenny,” suffered severe injuries and underwent surgery for wounds to its spleen and lung. The dog was released from the pet hospital on Saturday.
