Saturday: Healthy Saturdays (what a pleasant name for such a thrillingly contentious issue) begin again. You already know that Golden Gate Park’s JFK Drive is closed to cars on Sundays, but you might have forgotten that it’s also closed from Tea Garden to Transverse Drives on Saturdays from April-September. The closures on Saturdays and Sundays run from 6 AM to 6 PM, and this Saturday has special, bikey fun with the bike coalition. In our purely anecdotal experience, the first Healthy Saturday results in a little automotive confusion on Fulton, so if you’re traveling the Richmond, be aware.

Saturday: the Cesar Chavez Parade dominates the Mission, from Dolores and 19th, east on 19th, south on Mission, then east on 24th to Folsom. Expect closures on those streets from 11 until the parade passes.

Saturday: Right after the parade, the 24th Street Festival runs from 1-5 on 24th Street between Harrison and Bryant, which means that stretch of 24th, as well as Florida and Alabama at 24th will be closed from 10-5. We’re told Muni service on the 12, 14, 26, 27, 48, 49 and 67 will be effected but, unfortunately, they don’t say much more than that (“Reroute“? Not helpful). Our suggestion? BART your way into or out of the Mission that afternoon.
