Starving your brain makes you stupid. I know this first hand, as I starved myself into my late 30s, until I noticed the direct connection between my mental ability and the amount of food I had eaten. Even now, everyday, I have to consciously choose between an “ideal” body and a smart mind.

It’s not new or even interesting to point out that the female body style fashion suggests we should aspire to — that of a model — to is unrealistically skinny. Why is it so hard to accept that models are a different breed, they are chosen for their jobs entirely BECAUSE they look different from most women?

A normal women trying to look like a model is like a Labrador trying to look like a Greyhound. No matter how much the Lab starves itself or how much cosmetic surgery it gets, it’s going to look a lot more like a messed up Labrador than like a Greyhound.

And not only that, all the effort and time the Labrador puts into trying to be something it’s not just makes it worse at being what it is! Which is to say that women who starve themselves in an attempt to emulate a model’s appearance get worse at their natural talents than they would be if they ate well.

I am proof that an unhealthy focus on body goals directly undercuts one’s personal ability. If I had spent the time that I wasted being mentally incapacitated and thinking about eating on insuring I always had my full mental capabilities and focusing those capabilities on what was important in my life, I’d be much more successful.

I know this because I’ve watched the people around me with the same amount of ability, but less body pressure (many of them men), exceed me by far.

The fact is, when someone decides to give their body less food than it needs, they’re not only making a stupid choice, they are choosing to make themselves stupid.
