I have a giant masala chai addiction so I go to Chaat Café in the Crocker Galleria almost every day. When I was there a little while ago I noticed a new store with amazing jade in the window.

It’s called Lux Pieces and is run by a family who used to be wholesalers of Burmese jade, which many think to be the best jade, for about 30 years. Since the US embargo against Burmese products, no more jade can be imported so they opened a boutique to sell what they still had.

The jade they carry is beautiful and fairly priced. They’ve been in the business so long I couldn’t help but trust them. If you’re more cautious, you can have your jade sent to an appraiser to be verified for about $50 bucks. If you get bad verification news, Lux Pieces says that they guarntee their products.

Jenny and Sue were in the shop when I went in. They were not only helpful, they were as excited about their jade as I was. I hung around for a while and I think they ended up showing me almost all of their inventory. They never got tired and happily explained every piece to me.

I ended up buying a beautifully carved monkey pendant in a lovely green color for around $100 (shown above). I also saw a bunch of pieces that would make great holiday presents. And one exquisite piece that would make an amazing Christmas present for me.

If you love jade and want the good stuff from nice people. I recommend Lux Pieces at the Crocker Galleria, 50 Post Street Level 2 San Francisco, CA 94104.
