Borgore may be the most infamous man in electronic music.
He frequently has strippers on stage, has relations with a 19-year-old porn star named Jessie Andrews, and his most popular track is titled “Nympho.”
But in person, Asaf Borger plays quite the nice guy. The Israeli producer pairs a handshake with eye contact, speaks in a soft accent, and always made time to greet his hoards of fans in between interviews. It probably helped that they were all screaming girls.
We met up with Borgore for a few minutes at I Love This City to have a quick chat about his favorite things, and ended up getting a nice glimpse of his personality in the mean time.
What’s your favorite city to play in?
There’s no one city. I love my job, I love playing everywhere.
Favorite song to drop lately?
All of my new stuff, I’m really happy with it. I’ve worked on a couple new tunes people don’t know yet. But if I have to say anyone else, I’m really into Alvin Risk right now, it’s easy to mix in, drops every time really well. It’s sick.
Do you drink during shows?
Fucking killin’ it, smashin’ it. EDC New York I finished like a bottle of Grey Goose and a bottle of Jager while on stage.
Are those your favorites then?
I mean, pfffft… I don’t remember too much (laughs). I don’t know if it was good, maybe!
What’s the most over played song? Something no one should drop?
I don’t believe in that. I drop every “don’t drop.” “Scary Monsters,” “Bass Cannon,” “Tetris,” I’ll drop it.
Anything that makes people go crazy.
Yeah! Why not? I’m not trying to be a fucking smartass, I’m trying to make people happy. They pay me to come here and make people happy, of course I’ll drop a lot of dubs that no has heard and some experimental shit, but at the same time you’ve got to please everyone.
Favorite flavor of potato chip?
Original. They’re good, man!
Favorite festival?
I love all of them. I really like the ones in the United States. Very professional, I just like the vibe here a lot.
Favorite hat that you own?
“I’m The Greatest,” by New Era.
