Wednesday, May 25: The punk battle cry “if you aren’t now you never were” could easily describe the band Stiff Little Fingers. They formed during the glory days of 1977 and have managed to more or less stick together – minus a hiatus and couple lineup jumbles. They’ll be at Slims on Wednesday for $20, show starts at 8:00pm.
Wednesday, May 25: The Fillmore is housing two consecutive nights of ear candy this week. Yeasayer, Smith Westerns and openers Hush Hush will be jamming there at 8:00pm on Wednesday night and the following one as well. Tickets are $29.00.
Thursday, May 26: Another night of Yeasayer and Smith Westerns at the Fillmore, another night of indie magic. Show starts at 8:00pm, tickets are $29.00.
Sunday, May 29: When I saw Usher had a show coming up, I immediately listened to “Yeah” and did a little shoulder jig. Your chance to do that and not look like an idiot is this Sunday when Usher and Akon head to the HP Pavilion in San Jose to unleash a barrage of Top 40 hits. Tickets start at $37.25 and the show starts at 7:00pm.
Monday, May 30: Lykke Li is the most popular thing to come out of Sweden since Ikea’s frozen meatballs. Her show this Monday at the Regency Ballroom is sold out and for deservingly so, the tour has been racking up reviews praising her performance. Tickets were $30, show starts at 8:00pm.

A new song featuring a massive beat and some vocals from label mate Gouda Gouda has slipped from the vaults of Lil Wayne. Overall, “It’s Young Money” isn’t too special, but Wayne comes in around 1:30 and uses the time to get some quick-wit out: “My hammer stay cocked like Alfred the Hitch.” [Complex]
Beyonce‘s latest single “Run The World (Girls),” is nearly five-minutes of hyperactive girl power – a formula she’s not a stranger to. The beat, almost entirely sampled from Major Lazer’s “Pon de Floor,” is the best part of the song, and the chorus is guaranteed to torture you after the fact. Favorite line: “Strong enough to bear the children/Then go and get back to business.”
Like her friends Lil B and Andy Milonakis, Kreayshawn is someone you’re going to love or really, really hate. She’s a tiny white girl who represents Oakland, wears sparkly-pink Minnie Mouse ears while rapping about guns, and is creating a bit of buzz around herself with the release of her last video. I’m sure you can see where the haters come from. Check out “Gucci Gucci” here. It even got the attention of Snoop Dogg, who quickly hit up Kreayshawn over Twitter giving his respects and asking for her info.

Music collective Gayngs recently won $100,000 in a lawsuit over a missed show at last year’s Austin City Limits festival. The 24 member group blamed their no-show on their tour bus, which they said held all their equipment and drove off during the night. Of course, any expecting fan would be skeptical, but last week a court ordered the Nashville bus company to pay up, reportedly citing a dispute over an old $6,000 bill as to why the bus was ordered to take off from Texas. Goblin, rapper Tyler The Creator‘s first release in the limelight, sold 50,000 copies in its first week. “50K Is So Much,” he tweeted. “Like, For Me, Maybe Not To You Guys Whos Used To Mariah or BOB selling millions. Damn, This Is Fucking Wild.”
Speaking of B.o.B., Rap Up reports that the Atlanta artist is currently working on his next album. He’s linked up with producer and American Idol mentor Jim Jonsin to cut a couple songs, and the two made a reggae style track called “Rule the World” which could be his next single, says the producer.
