Tuesday, April 12: Ms. Lauryn Hill has been out of the spotlight for a while now, but she’s back with a string of “intimate playdates [that] allow me the time to perform for listeners who haven’t heard me over the past several years,” as she said in a statement posted on her website. She’ll be at the Warfield on Tuesday, backed by a live band, at 9:00pm. Tickets start at $56.75.
Wednesday, April 13: Making music with your friends is the way to go; Broken Social Scene knows that. You can catch the collective at the Warfield before they head down to Coachella. Tickets are $25.00, musical bonding begins at 8:00pm.
Wednesday, April 13: They’ve been hailed by Rolling Stone and The New York Times, but Yacht hasn’t quite broken into the mainstream yet. You can catch them at Bimbo’s 365 Club on Wednesday for $18.00 before they head down to Coachella for the weekend. The show starts at 8:00pm and is restricted to those 18+.
Thursday, April 14: Going to see Rusko is never a bad decision. The UK producer will be swinging by the Fox Theater on Thursday with his mates Doorly and Destructo for some massive bass and sweaty fun. Tickets start at $24.50 and the beats begin at 8:00pm.
Thursday, April 14: Another band that will be in town before spending the weekend at Coachella: Foals. The gang from Oxford will be playing a sold out show at the Great American Music Hall with Freelance Whales and The Naked and Famous this Saturday at 8:00pm. Tickets were $20.
Friday, April 15: It’s going to be a funky, frisky Friday night, for The Scissor Sisters are headed this way. They’ll be partying at the Warfield at 8:30pm with OH LAND and Baron Van Luxxury. Tickets are $35.00.
Saturday, April 16: Ocean Avenue has some great spots, but I don’t think that Yellowcard song is about Ingleside and the K-line. You can see Yellowcard, along with headliners All Time Low, and support, The Summer Set and Hey Monday. It’s an early show, starting at 7:00pm, and tickets are going for $25.00.
Saturday, April 16: You have to be way hungrier than a wolf to have a musical career like Duran Duran. Horrible jokes aside, they’ll be at the Fillmore on Saturday. Tickets are $72 and the 80’s flashbacks begin at 9:00pm.

Our first taste of the next Jane’s Addiction album comes as a grand, exhilarating track called “End of Lies.” The song features those huge guitar riffs and powerful vocals that got us hooked to them in the 90’s, and is free for download. Just visit their website, trade your email address, and that tune is yours. The album The Great Escape Artist is set to come out in August.
When the first line of the song is, “So I said fuck it, hahaha,” you know it’s going to be a good time. The Knux newest single “She’s So Up” is the track Lil Wayne should have written during his short rock stint. It’s got a simple but effective riff and the reckless confidence rock hasn’t seen in decades. It’s also poppy and very produced, but hey, it’s fun. The music video, which they released on Monday, can be watched above.
The all mighty Maybach Music Group brings us another luxurious beat smothered in witty, money-tinted rhymes. MTV debuted the video the song “Play Your Part” on Monday, which of course features Rick Ross, Wale, Meek Mills and… Chester French? Check out the video here.

The trailer for a 30-minute movie by the Beastie Boys, Fight For Your Right Revisited, has been released, check it out! The short film is a sequel to the Beastie Boys’ hit “Fight For Your Right (To Party!)” video, and features a blockbuster cast alongside the Boys themselves- Will Ferrell, Danny McBride, Jack Black and Elijah Wood, just to name a few – but you can see the whole A-list here. The Beastie Boys’ album, Hot Sauce Committee Part Two, comes out May 3 along with the film.
In other Beastie Boys news, the track we got a peek of last week, “Make Some Noise” is new available in full form. It’s a throwback to their party starting, hip hop slinging days, and it’s nice to have them back. Check it out at Spin.
