The weather may be depressing but a weekend of shopping always lifts the spirits. Lifting the spirits even higher is the Shop for Japan campaign, which runs this Saturday, March 26th.

The concept is simple: Shops from around the world will donate a set percentage to a charity of their choice (all of which, organizers say, have been carefully vetted and deal with relief and reconstruction in Japan). All you have to do is buy something.

Says Hassig, “I think there’s tremendous potential for both shop keepers and shoppers to do some serious good.”

Here’s the list of participating businesses, who are donating percentages from 5-50% of Saturday’s sales to the relief effort. You can find a map of locations, and any other info you might need, at the event’s site.

What: Shop for Japan
When: Saturday, March 26th
Where: Map and list at shopforjapan.com
Cost: Depends on your purchase, but a portion of it will go to relief efforts in Japan.
