Tuesday, March 22: Oh no, the Monster Ball is not over. Lady Gaga is back in the Bay for the first time since “Born This Way” for a Tuesday night show at Oracle arena in Oakland. Tickets start at $64.10, and the spectacle starts at 8:00pm.
Wednesday, March 23: Coming hot off 9 shows at SXSW, Theophilus London is the fashionable face of the more melodramatic side of hip-hop. You can catch him at 330 Ritch on Wednesday night. The party is from 9:00pm-2:00am, and there will be a couple acts opening up. Tickets are $25.
Thursday, March 24: Indie music isn’t known for its solo artists, but that hasn’t stopped Toro Y Moi. He’s playing a sold out show at the Great American Music Hall on Thursday, the first time since his last album Underneath the Pines. Show starts at 8:00pm, tickets were $15.
Friday, March 25: When you mix bass music and belly dancing you get Beats Antique. Their modern spin on world music is a local and knowledgeable buffet of genres, which lets them create something very special. They’ll be at the Fillmore at 9:00pm on Friday, tickets come out to $29.

The “he-just-said-that” lyrics of Tyler, The Creator get beautified with this remix courtesy of Toro y Moi. Tyler’s song “French” is filled with his usual rants of offenses so creatively strung together that we have to forgive him; but here they get backed by a glitchy, spacey beat from Toro. It’s not an obvious combination, but it’s an interesting one. Get it here.

After being diagnosed with cancer around a month ago, former X-Ray Spex singer, Poly Styrene, is releasing a solo album named Generation Indigo. You can preview one track above, as well as hear the stories behind the songs in this video interview. The tunes are catchy and fun; she mixes her confident, 80’s influenced vocals with up-beat, rock and electronic music that come off as an authentic alternative to modern pop acts.

After spending months locked up, Lil Wayne was probably giddy to get back on the road. Last week, Weezy launched his first tour since being back, and Spin was at the New Jersey show to tell us how it went. The head of Young Money will be in Oakland with Nicki Minaj and others on April 24.
While in Haiti on Sunday endorsing his pick for president, Wyclef Jean claims he was shot in the hand. The police chief of Delmas though, where Wyclef was supposedly shot, says the injury was just a cut from some loose glass. Major discrepancy? Yes, and no one is really sure what happened yet. Today, The Strokes released their first album, Angles, in five years. Is it a comeback? A reinvention? A failure? There are a lot of mixed feelings on the outcome of this long awaited release, which is probably why there are so many damn reviews. We may see a collaboration album from Thom Yorke and MF Doom in our future. According to the rapper, the Radiohead vocalist and he have been screwing around and making music, and we could see an album in the future. Sounds good to me, hopefully we get a taste of it soon. Read more here.
