Weirdsville 23: The Love Bug
Enjoy a collection of rare vintage movies and trailers on love, sex, and absurd dating dos and don’ts from the 1940’s. Odds are you won’t find these flicks at any Netflix, Blockbuster, or neighborhood movie store. Viewing starts at 8:30 pm at Oddball Films (275 Capp Street). Captain Beefheart Symposium
While the Captain passed away last year, the upcoming Beefheart symposium will show rare archival footage of the widely influential band, spin unreleased tracks, project slides of Van Vliet’s paintings and drawings, discuss the history of the group, and feature presenters like Talking Heads guitarist Jerry Harrison and composer Gary Lucas (who played guitar in Beefheart’s band). Vegan Cooking Demo

WORD UP (Winemakers of the Richmond District, Upper-Panhandle and Presidio) is hosting a wine tasting event to benefit the SF Public Library’s Neighborhood Library Campaign. Featuring over 20 local and talented vintners pouring their rare handcrafted wines, your $50 ticket will help raise funds to furnish and equip the 24 branch libraries being renovated and rebuilt throughout San Francisco.
