Matt Baume and Dan Savage want you to help let LGBTQ teens know that “it gets better.”
Savage recently set up a youtube channel to echo that sentiment after Savage’s column received a question submitted to Savage’s advice column regarding the tragic suicide of Billy Lucas, a gay teenager in Indiana.
This Sunday Sept 26 at 1pm, Stop8.org founder and Appeal contrib Matt Baume is taking things one step further, convening a flashmob and filming an even larger scale video, complete with script.
“So many of those kids dream about moving to San Francisco that I wanted to beam out a big gay fabulous message right from the heart of the Castro. I want a giant crowd to show up to wave to the camera and tell those kids it’s going to be okay” says Baume.
You can RSVP via the event’s facebook page, and learn more about it on SFist and Stop8.org.
Even if you can’t make it to the event this Sunday, you can still record your own video. Those interested can post their videos on youtube (of course, you must have a youtube account set up), then send the corresponding link to mail@savagelove.net.
