tape.jpgCare to mix up your summer plans this Sunday? The San Francisco Mixtape Society is holding its third music mix exchange and contest at the Make-Out Room. Mixes will be traded via a raffle system. All attendees are asked to assemble a mix on the Society’s current theme: Foreign vs. Familiar. Mixtapes don’t have to necessarily conform to their name, however: they can be in any format.

All in attendance will receive a mix made by someone else through the aforementioned raffle system. Attendees will also be able to vote for mixes they feel have the best track listings and artwork. Three prize packages will be rewarded: one for Audience Choice (by popular vote), Best Packaging (selected by judges), and Best Mixtape (selected by judges in advance). You can pre-submit your mixtape for the Best Mixtape award on their site.

What: San Francisco Mixtape Society Party
Where: The Make-out Room, 3225 22nd St. (between Valencia & Mission)
When: Sunday, July 11th 4-6PM
Cost: Free and open to all.

Makers of winning mixtapes will be invited onstage to speak about their musical selections and receive their prize packages (valued at up to $50). The prizes will be presented by event sponsors such as the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, , Photojojo, and Black Iris.

Here’s the rundown of things:
– Bring a mixtape based on theme (currently: Foreign vs. Familiar)
– Vote for your favorite mixtape
– Leave with a mixtape assembled by someone else.
