For three days only, the Exploratorium will be running a temporary exhibition showcasing the “innovations and outlaw aesthetics of custom computer culture.” The exhibition, Rods & Mods: The Kustom Kulture of Radical Computer Modification draws some pretty strong parallels to Tom Wolfe’s 1963 Esquire essay about the emerging “Kustom Kulture” of car customization, but instead of Fords and Chevys, the hot rods at the Exploratorium will be souped-up PCs designed for looks, high performance, or rebuilt classic machines.

So for those of you who find a Commodore 64 sexier than a ’64 Impala, this should appeal to you.
