About 100 parachuters will be dropping into San Francisco today as part of a commercial being filmed to promote T-Mobile’s new myTouch 3G phone.

The parachuters will attempt to form a “T” in the air, and will be dressed as surfers, doctors, firemen, and one as Elvis, according to the company.

They will take off from Oakland and, barring any adverse weather conditions, will jump from the plane and land sometime after noon in four spots in San Francisco: Justin Herman Plaza, the rooftop of a Pier 39 garage, the Marina Green, and the Moscone Recreation Center.

The project has been approved by the Federal Aviation Administration, the San Francisco Port Authority and the Recreation and Park Department, which is overseeing the event. San Francisco police will be assisting at all four jump sites.
