Elaine Santore tipped us off to this photo Ellis took of a bicycle accident that she says occurred at around 3 today at the corner of Haight & Pierce. She reports:
We’re not sure if he was wearing a helmet (Aimee didn’t see one, but he might have removed it after the accident), one of his shoes was missing, and he was taken away in a fire truck. The fire truck was parked for 10 minutes and then left without using the emergency sirens
Not a good day not to be a car, eh? We’ve called SFPD to see if they have any details on the accident, and will let you know more when we do. Update: SFPD Sgt. Lyn Tomioka just gave us a call, and told us that when police arrived, everyone involved was still on the scene, and that the cyclist was not moving, but was conscious and breathing. She also noted that in the report she had, there no blood seems to have been spilled. She’s calling the station in the area, and will let us know if there are any other details.
