San Francisco prosecutors today filed a murder charge against a 65-year-old transient suspected of fatally stabbing another transient during a fight Sunday night in Golden Gate Park.
Richard Ray is scheduled to be arraigned Thursday morning on one count of murder with the use of a deadly weapon, according to the district attorney’s office.
Police arrested Ray at about 9:40 p.m. Sunday after he allegedly stabbed 25-year-old Adam Noyes near Conservatory and John F. Kennedy drives. Noyes was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said Ray had flagged down passing cars and told a passerby that he had been stabbed, and he later told officers that Noyes had attacked him with a knife. He said he fought back and stabbed Noyes.
Both men are believed to have frequented the park area.
