police-light-bar1.jpgA 21-year-old woman who was shot several times in San Francisco’s Diamond Heights neighborhood Tuesday afternoon is expected to survive, police said today.

The woman had been walking in the 5300 block of Diamond Heights Boulevard at about 3 p.m. when a green four-door Lexus pulled up and a man got out and shot her in the torso and legs, police spokesman Sgt. Troy Dangerfield said.

The investigation is still unfolding, but Dangerfield said three people are believed to have been in the car when it pulled over and the driver began talking to the victim. Then a man got out of the back seat and shot her, he said.

The shooter got back in the car and the suspects drove off, Dangerfield said.

The woman was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, but is now expected to survive, according to Dangerfield.

The vehicle was later recovered nearby, but the shooting suspect, described only as a black man in his 20s, was not found, he said.

Though police believe the victim knew one of the suspects, the motive for the shooting is unknown, Dangerfield said.
