sfpd_arrestcuffs.jpg6:17 AM: Two people have been taken into custody this morning following a shooting that injured a police officer in San Francisco’s Mission District, a police spokeswoman said.

A training officer and two recruit officers were on patrol at 16th and Harrison streets when they stopped to respond to a fight that was breaking out between two women outside El Rincon nightclub at around 1:30 a.m., San Francisco police Lt. Lyn Tomioka said.

As the officers were breaking up the fight, four or five gunshots were heard and the training officer was shot in the foot, Tomioka said.

A dark green Chevrolet Camaro was seen leaving the area, and just minutes after the shooting a vehicle matching the description was stopped at 17th and Potrero Streets. Two people in the car were taken into police custody and as of 4 a.m., they were being questioned at the Police Department’s Mission Station, Tomioka said.

No one has been arrested and a weapon has not been found. The wounded officer was hospitalized with a broken foot and was reported to be in stable condition.

2:35 AM: San Francisco police this morning are searching for suspects in a shooting that took place in the city’s Mission District.

Officers responded to reports of a shooting near the intersection of Harrison and 16th streets just before 2 a.m., police said.

Preliminary reports indicate that at least one person has been injured.

No arrests have been made and further details regarding possible suspects were not yet available.

The Police Department had shut down vehicle access to Harrison Street between 16th and 17th streets while an investigation is conducted
